Behaviour Therapy

Behaviour Therapy
We work with children, young people, and families to understand behaviour as a meaningful form of communication. Through play‑based, relational, and developmentally appropriate approaches, we support children to feel safe, understood, and better able to express their needs.
Rather than focusing on “fixing” behaviour, we take the time to understand what is driving it including emotional, developmental, environmental, and relational factors and work collaboratively to create practical, supportive strategies.
Our approach is strengths‑based, neuro‑affirming, and trauma‑informed, supporting families across home, school, and community settings. Our popular approach is Child Centered Play Therapy, which is used to promote the autonomy, attachment and relationship building as a way to connect through behavioural escalations.
We work collaboratively with the child, their family, and support network to understand strengths, needs, and goals, and to develop practical, consistent supports across environments.
Supports may include:
-
Play‑based therapeutic interventions to support emotional expression, regulation, and attachment
-
Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA) to understand the purpose of behaviour
-
Development of Interim and Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans (0110)
-
Neuro‑affirming and trauma‑informed strategies to reduce distress and build skills
-
Support for emotional regulation, communication, and independence
-
Coaching and training for families, educators, and support workers
-
Ongoing monitoring, review, and adjustment of supports over time
