FAQs
Child‑Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) is a form of psychotherapy for children aged 3–12 years, where play is used as the child’s natural way of expressing thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
In CCPT, children are offered a carefully prepared, consistent, and predictable play environment, where a range of materials are available to support expression through play.
Sessions are child‑led and non‑directive, allowing children to engage in ways that feel safe and meaningful to them.
CCPT is grounded in relational and developmental principles and is offered within a therapeutic framework that prioritises emotional safety, attunement, and respectful connection.
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person‑centred, evidence‑informed approach that focuses on understanding behaviour as communication.
PBS builds on individual strengths, needs, and goals. Support is developed collaboratively with the person and those around them to promote positive, meaningful changes that improve everyday life.
PBS practitioners work alongside families, carers, educators, and support networks to strengthen communication, reduce distress, and support quality of life for the individual and those who care for them.
Mental health nursing in later life is often less about problem‑solving and more about presence, relationship, and noticing what feels important now.
Support may include listening to stories, sitting alongside emotions, and using gentle expressive or sensory approaches where helpful. There is no pressure to talk or engage in any particular way.
Our work is client‑led and non‑directive. Support is offered as an invitation and guided by each person’s pace, preferences, dignity, and emotional wellbeing.
Our current Art Group is for Children: This term we are working through the Tree of Life activity. This activity explores an individual's strengths, identity, stories, and resilience.
Coming soon is the Circle in Practice: Foundations for Connection a small family focused group where connection and emotional wellbeing are explored through everyday moments, play therapy principles and presence. Learning happens through noticing, simple practices, and gently reflecting together.
Pregnancy counselling at Evolve Well Health is offered as non‑directive, before, during, and after pregnancy, including support following pregnancy loss, for up to 12 months.
This support is available at any point where pregnancy‑related experiences may be impacting emotional wellbeing, whether you are considering or planning a pregnancy, currently pregnant, adjusting after birth, or navigating loss or unexpected change.
Counselling is non‑directive, meaning there is no advice‑giving or pressure toward particular decisions or outcomes. Instead, sessions offer a calm, respectful space to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace, guided by what matters most to you.

We always work towards joint sessions where you and your child work together in therapy. Your insights and involvement help build co-regulation and create a strong sense of safety and connection.
While your child may have one-on-one sessions, we also schedule regular parent meetings to discuss progress, address any concerns, and explore ways you can support your child at home.
All the materials needed for therapy, such as toys, art supplies, and games are provided. However, if your child has a favourite toy or you an item that brings comfort, you are welcome to bring it along.
Supporting your child and their emotional development means trusting the existing strengths of your family. We spend time together understanding your family values. This is a foundational step and guides how we work together.
