Child‑Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) is a specialised form of psychotherapy for children aged 3–12 years, where play is the child’s natural language of expression.
Delivered within our Story Corner Workshop, sessions take place in a safe, predictable, and thoughtfully prepared sensory environment. This space is designed to support emotional expression, regulation, and relational safety.
Through play, children are supported to
Explore emotions in a safe, supported environment
Express experiences through play and creative engagement
Engage in relational, child‑led play experiences
Be supported within a consistent and predictable therapeutic space
Develop self‑expression over time, at their own pace

This approach is
developmentally aligned and responsive to the unique needs, pace, and strengths of each child. Research supports Child‑Centred Play Therapy as an effective therapeutic approach for children experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties, including children with ADHD, autism, and experiences of medical trauma.

Funding and access
Child‑Centred Play Therapy is a relational therapeutic process relies on consistency, safety, and time. This intervention is delivered no fewer than 20 weeks, and may extend to up to 32 weeks., depending on the child’s therapeutic needs and progress. Periods of regression are a natural and welcomed part of the process.
For this reason, we take care not to overwhelm children or families with multiple therapeutic relationships during this phase. Therefore this intervention is not offered concurrently with other allied health services. Supporting a sense of calm, clarity, and a cohesive experience.
Parents and carers are supported to develop a clear understanding of their child’s needs. Discharge planning is introduced early and focuses on supported transition to allied health services where ongoing intervention is indicated.
